Codes of Practice

First Aid in the Workplace

This model Code of Practice has been developed to provide practical guidance for persons who have duties to manage risks to health and safety under the WHS Act and Regulations applying in a jurisdiction to provide adequate first aid facilities in the workplace. It includes information on first aid kits, procedures, facilities and training for first aiders.

To have legal effect in a jurisdiction, the model Code of Practice must be approved as a code of practice in that jurisdiction. To determine if this model Code of Practice has been approved as a code of practice in a particular jurisdiction, check with the relevant regulator.

This Code has been revised and republished in March 2015. An amendments table advising the changes that have been made to this Code is included in the March 2015 version.

The previous version is located on the Safe Work Australia historical versions page.

The Word version of this Code is accessible. The PDF version will be replaced with an accessible version as soon as is possible.
